on my desk

currently working on the following:

  • Maintaining Wretched Press, a Boston-based magazine on local music. Next article is an interview with a queer band - lovely group.
  • BLTN, or The Bulletin, issue #2 arrived at my house and I have yet to put it up on the Wretched Press website.
  • Garden Level, a novel about the digital space, censorship, martyrdom, and other stuff too. It's something I never thought I would attempt, and yet it looms in my mind.

quicknews

  • 8/29/23: I'm worried about the splintering happening to communities on the internet. It's a symptom of the polarization between demographics that social media algorithms allow. Promote. Intend. Anyway. I wish more of us curated our own realities. I think I need to take a nap.
  • 8/13/23: Adding in a random gallery for images I find and another page to embed archived videos in. Most aren't mine - they come from strange galleries or the Internet Archive. I'm having a lot of fun with non-social content. Gives me ideas, whether it's for the press or for the novel. I'm happy to have access to it.
  • 8/10/23: Break from work, just finished a 72-hour EEG test at my home, and feel like a new person after washing the gel out of my hair. I got Dunkin'. Life is, well, not good but also not bad. Which I suppose means it's good, relative to other lives.
  • 8/3/23: Taking on too many creative projects, hating my 9-5, trying to figure out what to focus on first. Also have begun to hand-write my novel to get myself off the fucking computer.
  • 7/29/23: Building the infrastructure! Linking things! Worrying about capitalism and print media and my subscription to Spotify!

thoughts

post #1 on the blog is a huge downer :)

My favorite painting. It's truly a fucking masterpiece. SO contemporary, so wild to see in person. I love the MFA.
